Citizens United for Alternatives to the Death
Penalty (CUADP) expresses profound grief and anger at the murder of
more than 2800 people in the terrorist attack of September
11, 2001. We urge an inward look at the character, conscience and soul
of our country, and we demand a response which requires courage,
strength, and moral fortitude. We demand peace. Peace requires
breaking the cycle of violence. Peace requires that we understand and
forestall the root causes of violence. Do we have the moral strength and wisdom to "afford" peace?
CUADP urges everyone to beware that THE FIRST
CASUALTY IN WAR IS THE TRUTH. There are many perspectives on what has
happened, WHY it happened, and what should be done about it. Please
inform yourself with an open mind, and ABOVE ALL, do not allow
yourself to be manipulated by the limited reporting of mainstream
corporate media. Please seek alternative viewpoints, and take into
account ALL perspectives.
Please think through the repercussions of whatever
actions are taken by those currently in power. If you have concerns,
please convey those concerns to your legislators and with a letter to
the editor of your local newspaper. Finally, click
here to read Mark Twain's "The War Prayer."
Your comments are welcome in the comment form below, however please do not expect
a response. All comments will be read and some may be shared with readers of CUADP's
e-mail update list.
